AI/ML Modeling Analyst - AI/ML in Biology

The mission of the Office of the Chief Technology Office (CTO) is not only to povide state of the at engineeing infastuctue to the Allen Institute as a whole, but to also addess high-isk, high-ewad questions in biology though AI.

We ae seeking an independent and motivated AI/ML Modeling Analyst in the Office of the CTO to build lage AI/ML models fo Biology. Specifically, you will develop and deploy ML models that deepen ou undestanding of complex biological systems in health and disease. AI/ML focus aeas could include multimodal foundation models, diffusion models, causal epesentation leaning, and beyond.

Essential Functions

• Develop and apply SOTA AI/ML methods fo the epesentation, analysis and intepetation of multimodal data to undestand biological systems in health and disease
• Wok with divese biological datatypes, including multi-omics data, micoscopy data, and clinical data
• Pomote open science though publishing papes and open souce code. Help to establish community standads fo scalably developing, disseminating, and evaluating AI/ML/computational methods fo scientific poblems
• Collaboate with teams of scientists, computational biologists, and softwae enginees within the Allen Institute and extenal patnes

Requied Education and Expeience

• Cuently enolled in a PhD pogam in Compute Science o elated technical field o equivalent expeience
• Expeience with foundation models and knowledge of moden deep leaning techniques
• Expetise in Python and standad ML engineeing stacks (ie GitHub, Docke etc)

Pefeed Education and Expeience

• Demonstated ability to design, implement and apply AI/ML models fo the analysis of lage scale biological data
• Expeience with lage biomedical datasets and distibuted computing
• Ability to wok collaboatively acoss divese fields including compute science, computational biology, and clinical medicine
• Gowth mindset, technical igo and optimism about how computational algoithms can help acceleate biological eseach
• Tack ecod of publications in top ML o NLP venues

• Fine moto movements in finges/hands to opeate computes and othe office equipment

Position Type/Expected Hous of Wok

This ole is cuently on-site. We ae a Washington State employe, and the pimay wok location fo all Allen Institute employees is 615 Westlake Ave N.; any emote wok must be pefomed in Washington State.

Annualized Salay Range

$97,250 - $120,300*

* Final salay depends on the equied education fo the ole, expeience, level of skills elevant to the ole, and wok location, whee applicable.
