Advertising-verification firm Integral Ad Science Inc. is laying off close to 10% of its workforce, a spokeswoman for the company said, as the ad-technology industry continues to reel from the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
New York-based IAS’s ad-verification services help advertisers track where and how their ads run online. Its technology also is used by marketers to avoid controversial, unsafe or other content on which they don’t want their ads to appear.
During the pandemic, this has included blocking keywords such as “coronavirus,” which has hurt news publishers’ ability to generate ad revenue from some of their most-read coverage.
The firm’s head count was more than 700 employees before the layoffs, the spokeswoman said.
