About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our dynamic team remotely, with the ability to work in North Carolina (NC) and Arizona (AZ). This role is pivotal in managing end-to-end data solutions that support our analytics platforms, data integration processes, and data governance initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining cloud and on-premises data systems that ensure data integrity, quality, and compliance. As a technical expert, you will mentor junior team members, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and engage with vendors to optimize resource utilization. Your expertise will directly influence our capacity to deliver timely, reliable data insights that support strategic decision-making across the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, with a minimum of 6 years of experience in software application development and maintenance, OR High School Diploma or GED with at least 10 years of relevant experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in data engineering and data integration technologies such as SQL, SAP BODS, Oracle, SQL Server, Informatica, DataStage, Netezza, and SSIS.
- At least 3 years of experience working with agile engineering practices and leading multi-time zone data teams.
- 2 years of practical experience with cloud platforms including AWS, Snowflake, and dbt.
- 1 year of experience in cloud computing environments.
- Proficiency in cloud data warehousing, transactional and analytical data modeling, data quality, and reporting tools such as Power BI, SSAS, and SSRS.
- Knowledge of analytics platforms, data integration, big data management, and related technologies.
- Experience working with finance and regulatory reporting is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Lead efforts to evaluate and enhance department systems, processes, and applications, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and best practices.
- Design, develop, and implement modules and testing methods based on programming specifications, ensuring system modifications fit within existing architecture.
- Provide technical support for production systems, addressing complex issues and anticipating maintenance needs to ensure high system availability and performance.
- Develop innovative technical solutions to resolve unique system problems, leading major projects, delegating tasks, and maintaining quality standards.
- Mentor and train associates within the team, sharing expertise and best practices to foster a knowledgeable and efficient work environment.
- Gather and analyze data related to user requests, defining scope, estimating timelines, and assessing system impacts.
- Collaborate with architects and development teams to understand data requirements, design reusable data pipelines, and build new tables/queries, ensuring compliance with bank standards.
- Code complex solutions to integrate, clean, transform, and control data, supporting data transformation processes, data structures, metadata, and data quality controls.
- Lead efforts with technology partners and stakeholders to address gaps in data management standards, negotiating solutions and communicating complex technical concepts clearly.
