Scope: The Data Analyst, Revenue will help Sierra Clubs revenue teams understand donation patterns, donors, and prospective donors in new ways to increase revenue. They will have ownership over building engaging self-service reports and dashboards that wow these teams by showing data and insights from their analysis in meaningful and actionable ways. They will work alongside staff doing fundraising and donor data management to foster and deepen a culture of data-informed decision-making.

Job activities include but are not limited to:

    • Reporting & Analysis:
    • Develop, maintain, and distribute regular revenue reports, dashboards, and forecasts for major giving, tracking progress against goals, and identifying trends.
    • Analyze major giving revenue streams, donor segments, and solicitation strategies to identify opportunities for growth and optimization.
    • Prepare ad-hoc reports and analyses as requested by leadership
    • Conduct in-depth analysis of all donors to identify prospective mid-level and major donors, understand donor behavior, and estimate future giving.
    • Segment donors to facilitate targeted outreach strategies.
    • Data Management & Optimization:
    • Assist with data imports, exports, and data hygiene within Salesforce and back-end data systems.
    • Identify data discrepancies and work to ensure data accuracy and consistency across all platforms.
    • Participate in cross-functional projects related to fundraising data management, system integrations, and reporting.
    • Business Process Documentation & Improvement:
    • Document current data processes, workflows, and policies within Salesforce and other relevant systems.
    • Identify opportunities for process efficiencies and improvements related to data collection, organization, and reporting for major gifts and other fundraising work.
    • Collaborate with the Advancement team to implement and reinforce data governance policies.

The successful candidate must demonstrate the following skills, experience and competencies:

    • 3 + years of experience or equivalent in a relevant data and analytics role (data analyst, data scientist, data manager, data engineer) with emphasis on producing meaningful insights
    • 2 + years of experience using common fundraising CRMs for revenue tracking and reporting
    • Experience creating reports, dashboards, and visualizations in Tableau, Looker Studio, or similar software tools
    • Proficiency using SQL to create and extract custom data sets from multiple tables.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including utilizing formulas, charts, and pivot tables
    • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail
    • Strong organizational skills and comfort with dynamic work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
    • Comfortable working independently and as part of cross-functional teams

The strongest candidates will also demonstrate the following skills, experience and competencies:

    • Proficiency using Salesforce for revenue tracking and reporting
    • Experience using Civis Platform
    • Proficiency in either Python or R for data cleaning and analysis
    • Understanding of Major Donor / Major Giving fundraising work
    • Previous work experience in medium-sized nonprofit advocacy organizations or a candidate's political campaign
$85,000 - $95,000 a year
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $85,000-$95,000.
This position is represented by a collective bargaining unit and is subject to the terms and conditions of the contract between Sierra Club and Progressive Workers Union or Sierra Employee Alliance, depending on location.
The Sierra Club offers a competitive salary package commensurate with skills and experience plus excellent benefits that include medical, dental, and vision coverage, and a retirement savings 401(k) plan.
This is a category 5, exempt, represented position.
