As a Backend Engineer (Level 5+), you will contribute to building scalable APIs, optimizing data processing pipelines, and enhancing search functionality using Elasticsearch. Youll work closely with senior engineers to develop and optimize backend services, improve system reliability, and ensure seamless performance at scale. Collaboration with frontend developers, product managers, and DevOps will be essential in delivering innovative, scalable solutions that enhance user engagement and streamline platform operations.

Problems You Will Solve

• Scalable System Architecture: Contribute to building and maintaining high-performance backend services, ensuring scalability, reliability, and cloud-native best practices using Docker, Kubernetes, and microservices.
• API Development & Optimization: Develop secure, efficient REST and GraphQL APIs, implementing authentication, access control, and rate-limiting to support seamless platform interactions.
• Data Processing & Ingestion: Work with multi-threaded data pipelines to ingest and process large datasets from multiple sources, ensuring efficient real-time processing.
• Search & Indexing: Support Elasticsearch-based indexing and retrieval, optimizing search performance for large datasets.
• Database Performance & Optimization: Assist in designing and optimizing SQL and NoSQL databases, improving query efficiency, indexing, and scalability.
• System Reliability & Performance: Improve error handling, redundancy strategies, and backend performance, ensuring uptime and stability under load.
• Monitoring & Logging: Deploy and maintain real-time observability solutions using Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry to enable proactive issue resolution.
• Security & Compliance: Implement secure API development standards, working on authentication, access control, and encryption to protect platform integrity.
• Third-Party Integrations: Integrate external APIs and services, including payment processors, geolocation tools, and AI-driven features.
• Data Handling & Analytics: Work with structured and unstructured data, optimizing storage and processing to enable insights and reporting.
• Cloud Deployments & CI/CD: Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, collaborating with DevOps teams to improve automation and cloud deployments.
• Code Quality & Collaboration: Write clean, maintainable code, participate in peer reviews, and follow best practices to ensure high-quality software delivery.

All About You

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, with 5+ years of backend development experience specializing in Python and Django.
• Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming, with exposure to multi-threaded programming and distributed systems.
• Experience developing secure, scalable RESTful and GraphQL APIs, implementing authentication, access control, and rate-limiting.
• Hands-on experience with data ingestion and processing, working with high-volume data pipelines and optimizing for performance and scalability.
• Familiarity with Elasticsearch, contributing to search indexing and query optimization for scalable search solutions.
• Experience with microservices architecture, working with containerized applications and message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS SQS/SNS) for event-driven communication.
• Proficiency with SQL and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, and Redis, with knowledge of query optimization and schema design.
• Experience working in cloud environments, using AWS services (RDS, S3, Lambda, IAM, ECS, API Gateway) and container orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Exposure to observability and monitoring tools, such as Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry, assisting in logging and system health tracking.
• Understanding of security best practices, implementing authentication mechanisms (OAuth, JWT), API security, and encryption standards.
• Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, collaborating with DevOps teams to improve deployment automation and cloud resource efficiency.
• Experience working with structured and unstructured data, contributing to ETL processes and data storage optimizations for analytics and reporting.
• Thrives in Agile/SCRUM environments, collaborating with frontend engineers, DevOps, and product managers to build and deploy scalable solutions.
