Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Designs and develops new products within established design criteria guidelines to adapt CVGs Seating Products to Customer Requirements. (Adaptor Plates, Brackets, etc.)
- Communicate and manage Changes, Deviations, and VA/VE for Product with Customers.
- Provide Design and Manage all Program Refreshes or New Programs for Product Design, Testing and Samples to support a smooth launch with Customer.
- Develops CAD generated solid models and engineering drawings in Catia V5. Provides CAD data to develop proof of principle models to verify design concepts for Adaptor Brackets, Special Steel Brackets, Heating, Heat/Cool and Heat/Vent Systems, mechanisms, plastic, stampings, etc.
- Test and develop designs/corrective actions for insufficient areas of design.
- Procures prototype product and capital costs as required.
- Make Design and plasma cut prototype parts and work to make samples with Fabrication Shop.
- Coordinates the testing of existing and new products to validate FMVSS and customer requirements.
- Develop and maintain the DFMEA and DVPR for Programs and/or changes.
- Searches continuously for new processes and vendors that will enhance products, improve quality, and reduce costs for components or systems.
- Apply value-added practices to current products, processes, methods, and materials to identify opportunities for cost/quality improvements.
- Supports quality and environmental systems and APQP standards in design engineering functions.
- When needed support root cause analysis of quality issues and validate corrective actions.
- Coordinates cross-functional team activities between engineering and other departments.
- Travel as needed to CVG facilities, Suppliers and Customer locations.
- Keep emotions under control while under stressful situations. Speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations.
- Present numerical data effectively and accurately in presentation format.
- Show respect and sensitivity for cultural differences and always promote a harassment-free environment. Work with integrity and ethically; following the Companys policies and procedures.
- Prioritize and plan work activities. Use time efficiently.
- Be consistently at work and on time and ensure work responsibilities are covered when absent.
- Arrive at meetings and appointments on time and ask for and offer help when needed.
- Lead others to work as a team to support projects and programs. Demonstrate teamwork by collaborating with others to improve overall standards of performance and service.
- Ability to work under tight timelines while juggling multiple tasks. Participate on projects and assume additional tasks as assigned.
- Able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner understand root cause analysis to develop solutions to issues.
- Other duties may be assigned as required.
DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS
- Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) from four-year College or university; and/or 2-5+ years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
