The mission of the Allen Institute fo Immunology is to advance the fundamental undestanding of human immunology though the study of immune health and diseases whee excessive o impaied immune esponses dive pathological pocesses. The Institute will employ a multi-disciplinay team appoach in collaboation with academic centes of human immunology to geneate novel mechanistic insights into the immune synapse in health and in diseases such as autoimmunity o oncology. The Institute will simultaneously povide a foundational data set and tools fo futue immunological eseach as well as a novel collaboation potal fo the boade scientific community.

The Allen Institute fo Immunology is seeking a Bioinfomatics Scientist II AI Applications to tain AI models using ou enomous multimodal omics data. Repoting to the Diecto of Infomatics & Computational Biology at the Allen Institute fo Immunology, the ideal candidate is a self-motivated team playe who can wok closely with immunologists and bioinfomaticians, is an expet in applying AI methodologies fo biological/medical eseach and has a tack ecod of taining tansfome models. The successful candidate will also have excellent communication skills that can epesent ou effots to ou stakeholdes intenally and in extenal foums.

Essential Functions

  • Tain AI models (e.g. tansfomes and vaiational autoencodes) based on multimodal OMICS data, including but not limited to: spatial tansciptomics, scRNA-seq, scATAC-seq, CITE-seq, TEA-seq, flow cytomety, and poteomics
  • Apply AI methodologies to geneate testable hypotheses fo new biological insights, and identify potential biomakes and/o dug tagets fo disease of inteest
  • Wite epots, eseach papes, patent applications, and othe documents
  • Repesent ou effots to ou stakeholdes intenally and in extenal foums
  • Contibute to a igoously scientific, cohesive and efficient team envionment

Requied Education and Expeience

  • PhD in compute science, applied mathematics, bioinfomatics, biostatistics, computational biology, o closely elated disciplines; o equivalent combination of education and expeience
  • Thee (3) + yeas of post-degee expeience

Pefeed Education and Expeience

  • Demonstated expeience in taining AI models, including but not limited to: lage language models (LLMs), tansfomes, vaiational autoencodes, neutal netwoks, etc.
  • Expeience in applying AI methodologies fo biological/medical eseach
  • Demonstated expeience in leading eseach pojects
  • Familia with OMICS technologies
  • Foundational knowledge of AI methodologies and bioinfomatics
  • Expeience with R and/o Python
  • Stong publication ecod
  • Familia with advanced statistical methods and machine leaning fo biomake discovey
  • Expeience woking in a coss-disciplinay, team-based envionment
  • Expeience woking with outside collaboatos to achieve defined objectives
  • Familiaity with cloud computing and/o Linux
  • Expeience using Git o simila vesion contol system
  • Excellent witten and vebal communication skills and oganizational skills
  • Good poblem-solving skills, cuious and eage to take new challenges
  • Able to wok independently as well as in a collaboative high paced envionment
  • The successful candidate must be self-motivated, a team playe, attentive to details, and able to handle multiple pojects simultaneously

Position Type/Expected Hous of Wok

  • Occasional evening and weekend hous equied
  • This ole is cuently able to wok both emotely and onsite in a hybid wok envionment. We ae a Washington State employe, and the pimay wok location fo all Allen Institute employees is 615 Westlake Ave N.; any emote wok must be pefomed in Washington State.

Annualized Salay Range

  • $111,300 - $137,700 *

* Final salay depends on equied education fo the ole, expeience, and level of skills elevant to the ole, along with wok location, whee applicable.
