Position Summary

We are seeking an accomplished Engineering Application R&D Specialist to serve as a technical interface between Across International and leading researchers in material science, metallurgy, and related engineering disciplines. This role will focus on gathering detailed scientific and operational requirements from researchers and industry professionals to inform and accelerate the development of next-generation laboratory equipment. The ideal candidate will also represent the company at scientific conferences and industry trade shows, delivering technical presentations and participating in discussions on emerging trends and technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Collaboration & Requirements Engineering:

Engage with academic and industrial researchers to identify technical requirements, application challenges, and future trends in material science. Translate these insights into product specifications and R&D priorities.

  • Cross-Functional Integration:

Collaborate with internal engineering, product, and marketing teams to align product development initiatives with real-world scientific needs.

  • Technical Representation:

Represent Across International at domestic and international trade shows, conferences, and seminars. Deliver keynote presentations, lead product demos, and participate in technical panels.

  • Market & Technology Analysis:

Conduct in-depth market research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities for technological differentiation and product innovation.

  • Scientific Communication:

Author white papers, technical briefs, and application notes to support product education, scientific engagement, and market positioning.

  • Feedback Loop Management:

Establish feedback channels between customers and R&D to ensure continuous improvement of product performance and usability.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field is strongly preferred.

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in a research, application engineering, or R&D-focused role within scientific instrumentation or laboratory equipment.
  • Proven track record of engaging with the scientific community in a technical capacity (e.g., research collaborations, speaking engagements).

Core Competencies

  • Deep technical knowledge in materials characterization, metal research, vacuum systems, or heat treatment processes.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; ability to articulate complex scientific concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on applied science and engineering innovation.
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, cross-disciplinary environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in preparing and delivering technical presentations.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite; familiarity with CAD, simulation, or data acquisition tools is a plus.

  • Experience in product development or commercialization of laboratory instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and safety standards in laboratory settings.
