About The Role
As a Data Engineer II at Fandango, part of Versants Digital Products division, you will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining our data infrastructure to support business operations and strategic initiatives. Your primary responsibilities will include designing, building, and optimizing data pipelines that integrate data from various sources, including internal systems, third-party providers, and cloud-based streams. You will collaborate closely with data scientists, product managers, and other engineering teams to understand data requirements and ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable data solutions. This role demands a versatile professional with a strong technical background, leadership qualities, and a passion for solving complex data challenges. You will be instrumental in enabling data-driven decision-making and enhancing our digital entertainment offerings for millions of movie fans nationwide.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of professional experience in Data Engineering, including building data pipelines, orchestration, data modeling, and managing data lakes.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala, along with strong SQL skills.
- Experience in designing and implementing data warehousing solutions with relational and dimensional data models.
- Hands-on experience working with diverse data sources, including APIs, real-time feeds, and structured/semi-structured files.
- Familiarity with processing large datasets using tools like AWS Glue, Apache Airflow / Amazon MWAA, PySpark, and SQL.
- Experience developing near real-time and batch data pipelines.
- Solid understanding of AWS data management services such as S3, Redshift, DynamoDB, Athena, EMR, Glue, and Lambda.
- Experience working in agile or Scrum environments, with a collaborative approach to project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable data pipelines from multiple sources, ensuring data quality and performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data scientists, product managers, and software engineers to gather requirements and deliver data solutions.
- Optimize existing data workflows and improve codebase efficiency and reliability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues promptly to minimize downtime and data inconsistencies.
- Implement best practices for data security, governance, and compliance across all data systems.
- Participate in agile ceremonies, contribute to sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously enhance data architecture and processes.
- Assist in documentation and knowledge sharing to foster team growth and project transparency.
