About The RoleThe UNICEF Data Analyst Consultant #2 will play a pivotal role in supporting the analysis and benchmarking efforts related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically focusing on childrens well-being. The consultant will contribute to the development of the report Progress on Childrens Well-Being, including the analysis of the Life-Course Index. This role involves working closely with the D&A sectoral data managers and analysts, utilizing GitHub, R programming, and other statistical tools to automate workflows, generate standardized factsheets, and produce insightful visualizations. The consultant will be responsible for writing and maintaining syntax, ensuring reproducibility, and supporting the publication process. The engagement is home/office-based at NYHQ with the possibility of remote work, and the duration of this consultancy is from August 2025 to October 2025.
Qualifications- Advanced University Degree (Masters) in Economics, Sociology, Statistics, Education, Social Sciences, or related disciplines.
- Minimum of one year of experience in statistical analysis of economic or social data.
- Proficiency in data analysis with strong command of R programming; familiarity with Stata and SPSS is an advantage.
- Demonstrated expertise in creating reproducible research using version control tools like GitHub.
- Experience handling, interpreting, and analyzing social sector data from various sources.
- Proven project management skills in data-related projects within social sectors.
- Ability to produce high-quality reports, visualizations, and presentations aligning with organizational standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of SDGs, childrens rights, and social development indicators is desirable.
Responsibilities- Support the analysis for the Progress on Childrens Well-Being report, including disaggregation and equity analysis.
- Expand the analysis of the Life-Course Index to provide deeper insights into childrens well-being over time.
- Create and automate workflows to generate graphs, charts, and factsheets using R, ensuring reproducibility and scalability.
- Maintain and update the GitHub repository with well-annotated syntax, documentation, and user guides.
- Develop country-specific scripts for factsheet production based on benchmarking and life-course analysis.
- Run benchmarking and life-course index analyses, producing comprehensive country factsheets with findings.
- Collaborate with the PEG team to support the publication and dissemination of analytical outputs.
- Finalize and publish the workflow, ensuring long-term usability for future updates and analyses.
