In this dynamic role as a Senior Software Engineer - Backend, you will design, build, and scale data-intensive backend services that directly impact the safety and well-being of millions of essential workers. You will work on exciting technology platforms serving Fortune 500 companies in various industries.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and non-engineering teams to understand and address evolving user needs.
- Lead end-to-end engineering projects from scoping through implementation and maintenance.
- Research, propose, and design backend services and APIs (Go, Node.js, or Python) based on requirements.
- Implement data modeling and data management solutions (PostgreSQL, Protobuf, AWS) for high performance.
- Ensure system reliability, scalability, and observability in production environments.
- Drive best practices for version control, CI/CD, and test automation.
- Mentor and guide other engineers across multiple projects.
Requirements
- Must be located within a 50-mile radius around the Bay Area, California.
- Must have at least 8 years of experience in developing data-intensive backend APIs and services at scale.
- Must have at least 3 years of professional experience leading cross-functional engineering projects.
- Proficient coding experience in a typed/compiled language (e.g., Go, C++, Java).
- Production experience with container technologies and cloud platforms.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future employer sponsorship.
Preferred Skills
- Experience developing backend services with Go.
- Experience designing gRPC APIs.
- Experience working closely with frontend engineers and product managers.
- Familiarity with Bazel build system.
