This Opportunity

WSP is seeking a Data Analyst - Transportation Infrastructure for our expanding Transportation Asset Management practice. WSP is a leader in transportation asset management with a focus on the highway mode, serving federal, state, and local DOTs, with increasing opportunities in other transportation modes. The position will require technical and communication skills that can be exercised to execute work with high technical quality. We are looking for a motivated, hardworking candidate, with experience or knowledge in infrastructure management including analytics, planning and engineering, with a focus on asset management and asset management systems. WSPs Transportation Asset Management practice is based in metro Washington DC, with offices in Hanover, MD and Chantilly, VA and working nation-wide. Placement in any WSP office in the continental US is possible for the right candidate, with a flexible, hybrid or remote schedule.

Your Impact

  • Provides data analytics support for transportation infrastructure maintenance and capital planning and optimization initiatives for federal, state, and local governments.
  • Delivers project work, including but not limited to, facilitating internal and external workshops, writing reports and delivering presentations.
  • Works collaboratively with other subject matter experts leveraging your understanding of data analytics, asset management systems and related technologies to develop research and plans.
  • Supports complex projects and leads smaller projects or phases of large projects.
  • Develops new business through technical proposal development, networking, specialized service offerings, client interaction, conference participation, and development of professional reputation.
  • Contributes positively to a committed, professional team environment.
  • Performs additional responsibilities within the team to meet project requirements and business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Excellent understanding of transportation infrastructure maintenance and management, including infrastructure performance modeling, capital planning, and optimization.
  • An advanced degree in civil engineering is required, with specialization in one or more key facets of asset management, including asset condition modeling. Other combinations of planning, engineering, policy or analytical backgrounds with specialization in transportation infrastructure will be considered.
  • Knowledge of transportation asset management principles and emerging practices are essential.
  • 5+-years, PE license is preferred, with exceptions considered for a more junior candidate without PE.
  • Knowledge of lifecycle (plan, design, construction, inspection, maintenance, and renewal) and its enablers (asset data, information, and risk management) as it pertains to asset management.
  • Knowledge and experience with large datasets of infrastructure inventory, condition, maintenance, and specialized engineering inspections.
  • Demonstrable analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills in asset-intensive organizations.
  • Experience with statistical data analysis and processing, and use of data analysis tools such as R (preferred), Tableau, Power BI, Matlab, Python, SQL, and GitHub is required. An understanding of machine learning and data visualization is also highly valued.
  • You must be an excellent communicator to include technical writing, oral presentation, facilitation, executive level synthesis, and customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop workplans and to lead tasks within projects.
  • Must pass drug screen and background check.
