Job DescriptionKeep pace with our success...High quality data is critical to Western Assets success as a leading global fixed income investment manager. The Data Management Office (DMO) is responsible for the implementation and on-going support of the Markit Enterprise Data Management (EDM) platform which is a strategic priority for the firm. Markit EDM will increase overall data quality across the firm - centralize the management of core data domains - and retire legacy data management systems. Multiple data domains such a security reference - pricing - ratings - counterparties and benchmarks will migrate onto the EDM platform over time.As a Data Analyst - you will oversee the design and implementation of key data quality controls within the EDM platform and work across our investment operations teams to rationalize existing data quality checks. You will become an expert in the EDM platform understanding all of its tools to implement data quality controls. You will train others in investment operations on how to implement best practice quality controls and serve as an EDM subject matter expert. You will play a critical role in enhancing the efficiency of data quality control checks across the department.What You Will Do Assist with gathering business requirements from data domain owners and incorporate them into the Business Requirements Documentation (BRD). The BRD is the primary document used to build-out the Markit EDM platform. Work directly with business data owners to define and draft business rules and data quality controls. Ensure that data quality control checks implemented in EDM are in line with best practice standards. Help with Quality Assurance and User Interface testing for transition of data and processes from existing systems onto the Markit EDM platform. Assist with the build out of a data reconciliation using a tool like Alteryx to ensure data being managed in EDM is accurate and complete. Reporting: Develop and manage data quality metrics using latest tools to ensure accuracy - consistency - and completeness to effectively manage our platform and the managed services team. In addition to supporting the EDM implementation - this role provides support to the rest of the enterprise data management team for supporting regular data management workloads including benchmark - security reference and pricing. While professional qualifications or experience in finance are welcome - we are equally interested in the new thinking that data specialists from outside the industry can bring.What You Will Bring Bachelors degree in relevant field; Finance - Mathematics - Science or Engineering High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel - SQL and Business Intelligence data tools. Experience using data in diverse ways to effectively optimize business processes Possess knowledge and understanding of data quality concepts and frameworks Previous mastery / experience with core fixed income data domains (Benchmarks - Security Reference & Pricing) Excellent written and verbal communication skills for multiple levels of management Ability to develop positive and collaborative relationships with business partners and effectively communicate with both business and technology data stakeholders Excellent organizational skills and a keen attention to detail Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbout Western AssetAt Western Asset were looking forward.
