If you answered 'yes' to two of the three previous questions, you could be a great fit as a Senior Data Scientist within Vista Outdoor's Center of Excellence Digital Marketing Team. In this position, you will have the opportunity to champion web analytics efforts, data science initiatives, and play a lead role in leveraging Customer Data Platforms. In addition, this role will be pivotal for executional excellence data modeling across Vista Outdoor's suite of brands, including Bell Helmets, Bushnell, CamelBak, Camp Chef, Foresight Sports, Fox Racing, Giro, Simms Fishing, Stone Glacier and several more. We will look to you to develop innovative solutions that not only meet the demands of the current market, but also deliver on future trends.
This is a remote position reporting to the Vice President, Center of Excellence Digital Marketing. Some travel may be required for team meetings and events.
As a Senior Data Scientist, you will have an opportunity, but not limited, to:
+ Create and implement cohesive data analytics methodologies to help normalize our data consumption and reporting abilities across the entire organization
+ Collaborate with broader DTC teams within the Vista Outdoor brand portfolio that results in successful data mining info that ultimately results in increased Customer Lifetime Value, customer retention, customer acquisition and revenue growth
+ Lead a small team on the creation of attrition, churn and winback models using various eCommerce and ERP data
+ Support brand eCommerce teams with customer retention, loyalty and digital gift card programs relating to data modeling and optimization
+ Champion data science methodologies and provide expert recommendations back to business leaders
+ Serve as a subject matter expert on all things related to data modeling, data retrieval and report visualization
+ Work in coordination with business units to understand data requirements and advise on how requirements can best be accomplished
+ Monitor all processes through script and dashboard statuses along with reviewing customer data to ensure integrity of data and compliance with current online data handling policies.
+ Build and own internal technical & architectural data documentation and the presentation and procurement of visual aides
+ Work with internal stakeholders, partners, and marketing teams to ensure data is clean, accurate, and delivered in a timely fashion
+ Work with Data Engineers and Systems Specialists to operationalize models to scale
+ Strategize and coordinate with brands on data-powered campaigns
+ Minimum: Masters degree in mathematics, statistics or other similar areas of emphasis
+ Minimum of 5 years of experience conducting statistical analysis in a business or academic environment
+ Minimum of 3 years of experience with data gathering skills/tools (e.g. SQL, Hadoop, Teradata, SAS, R, Python, Business Objects, etc.)
+ Prior experience building complex machine learning models
+ Proficient in critical advanced analytics platforms, including 3+ years' experience with programing languages such as Python, R, or SQL)
+ Ability to apply modeling approaches / classes of algorithms to business problems such as regressions, K Nearest Neighbors, Random Forest, GBM, Neural Networks, boosted trees, LDA, collaborative filtering, Bayesian, etc.
+ Advanced knowledge of model evaluation, tuning, and performance; familiarity with machine learning, mathematical, and statistical packages
+ Experience with A/B statistical inference testing, design of experiments, and standardization techniques
+ Ability to within Customer Data Platforms (Salesforce, Amplitude, et al.)
+ Strong organizational skills and be able to communicate complex business processes and flows in an easy-to-understand manner for groups without technical backgrounds or abilities.
