Job Description

The Data Engineer will report toand work closely with the Director of Architecture & Data Analytics, and other members of the Data Engineering team, to support the delivery of tactical and strategic analytic solutions across Keypaths global organization. The Data Engineer will participate in the translation of business requirements into technology solutions that deliver business insights through the conversion of business data into actionable information. Additionally, the Data Engineer will be a technical expert in the development of system integration, data warehouse, data modeling, and other complex data solutions.

Candidates will have demonstrated real-world experience overcoming business problems by delivering high-quality data technology and analytical solutions.This includes the full data analysis lifecycle from data analysis, sourcing, transformation, modeling, and consumption. Candidates will have demonstrated the ability to understand specific data needs for analytic and reporting solutions, and then have the aptitude to design and develop the required technical data models and integrations to support data processing, visualization, operational reporting, and advanced analytics.

As a Data Engineer, you will be:

  • Designing and developing data automation, system integration, data warehouse, and data packaging solutions that support continuous delivery of data insights to business stakeholders.
  • Developing data processing procedures and analytic solutions within the data warehouse that drive business insights and support organizational decision making.
  • Performing data model design and technical transformations as part of the development and deployment of predictive and analytic models.
  • Providingtechnical and data model designs and specifications to members of other teams within the Information Technology department based on future data visualization and analytic project requirements.
  • Working with business sponsors to develop information and data requirements based on business team feedback and conveyed reporting needs.
  • Creatingand maintaining existing data models to support self-service data analysis and reporting initiatives within business groups.
  • Successfully engagingin and managingmultiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Managingprojects and working from inception to production, while adhering to team architectural, developmental, and productivity standards.


Education: Minimum BS/BA Degree, preferably in a Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics or Statistics related discipline

    Technical Skills:

    • 4+ years of data analytics experience with a proven history of successfully developing and deploying data warehouse and analytic model solutions.
    • Knowledge of and experience developing and implementing data integrations, data processing, data warehouse, and data modeling solutions.
    • Proficiency with data transformation concepts (ETL, ELT), preferably with Microsoft technologies including Microsoft Azure Data Factory, SQL Server, and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
    • Proficiency with data packaging concepts (Cubes, Tabular Models), preferably with Microsoft technologies including Microsoft Azure and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS).
    • Deep knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server database and data analytics technologies required (Ex. Azure Data Factory, SQL/TSQL, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, and Power BI).
    • Expert proficiency with Business Intelligence and reporting tools, such as Microsoft Power BI or Tableau.
    • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Azure Data Factory (or SSIS), SSAS, and Tabular Models.
    • Working experience with Microsoft Excel, pivot tables, charts, and power query.
    • Exposure to, and foundational understanding of, predictive analytics platforms, software, languages, and libraries such as Microsoft Azure ML, SAS, Python, R is desired.

    Experience/Other Skills:

    • Strong problem-solving, quantitative, and analytical abilities
    • Capable of quickly learning and adapting tonew technologies, unfamiliar systems, and applications.
    • Excellent communication skills--can think logically and articulate thoughts in a clear, concise manner;ability to effectively translatedata analysis concepts to a business audience.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively and work as part of a team;contribute to and participate in an open environment with a team that likes to have fun at work.
    • Ability to take ownership of assignments and see them through to completion.
    • Deadline driven with the ability to complete work in a timely manner.
    • Willingness to go the 'extra mile' to get the job done, including occasional overtime.
    • Exceptional follow-through, personal drive, and the desire to make a difference.
    • An understanding of the Higher Education and Post-Secondary Education sector is preferred
