DescriptionPRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITIONAs a Sr. Software Engineer at Constellation - you will work in our dynamic HR IT Applications group in a hybrid remote work environment. We are looking for experienced individuals that have natural problem solving and analytical skills - a high level of technical acumen - project or operations experience with HR applications - and the ability to offer ideas and... thoughts that are out of the box and current with today's ever-changing environment.The role will be centered on the development and improvement of new and existing features as well as providing day to day support in response to customer needs. You will participate in peer code reviews - advocate for standard development methodologies - and participate in an inclusive - energetic and highly cross-functional team. The role encompasses design - implementation - and testing to ensure we are building products right and releasing them with high quality. The right individual will have experience working within an agile delivery model and can understand complex business processes in order to design and develop the right solution to meet business needs.This role works under the direction of a Manager or Project Manager and may supervise or coordinate the tasks of less experienced Software Engineers. Works closely with Scrum Masters - Project Managers - QA - and other team members to meet operational and project deliverables. Independence level: Works independently with minimal guidance.PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES- Engage with business partners to gather information - analyze requirements and deliver practical - efficient and cost-effective solutions that satisfy business needs. Writes product specifications and design documentation for assigned system components. (25%)- Design - develop and/or review complex code to ensure solutions meet the requirements of functional and technical specifications. Develop and/or review project technical architecture design and development. Solutions may include but are not limited to the development of various types of applications - web - mobile app - full stack or integrations hosted on premises data centers or in the cloud. Develop automated Unit tests and/or automated UI tests. (20%)- Lead software team and provide oversight for less experienced engineers. Using error reports - establish priorities and assign out bugs to relevant team members for resolution. Support development of version control principles (e.g. Git and working within an agile environment) - CI/CD pipeline and various automations. (25%)- Actively engage with Manager on progress - status - and issues pertaining to assigned deliverables. Ensure all risks and issues that affect the scope of work are captured following set process and are actioned appropriately. (10%)- Enhance knowledge of and compliance with preferred technologies - methodologies - standards and policies. Stay on top of latest technologies & trends. Maintain technical knowledge and business acumen within own discipline or function. Strong debugging and problem-solving skills; lead peer code reviews.(10%)- Assist in the development of white papers - presentations - or knowledge sharing for new and recommended solutions. Ideate - design - and develop process and technology improvements such as process or test automations. (10%)JOB SCOPE- Product development and maintenance activities related to Oracle Human Capital Management (HCM) - Infor Workforce Management (timekeeping) - Splash BI and related HR applications.- Develop and maintain deep knowledge of technology and its application across our business areas or for our customers- Promote knowledge via seminars - presentations and publications within IT and Exelon- Participate in technological innovation to drive new business opportunities and solve complex business problems- Requires moderate skill set and proficiency in discipline. Conducts work assignments of increasing complexity - under moderate supervision with some latitude for independent judgment.- Champion transition of team to agile methodology including participating in all necessary agile ceremonies and setting an example for other members of the team to follow.- Lead small to medium teams in delivering software solutions- Engage with business users and help transform their strategic objectives into IT solutionsQualificationsQualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's degree (Computer Science or related discipline) and 5 - 8 years of relevant experience (programming technologies) or minimum 9 - 12 years of relevant combination of education and work experience- Demonstrated strong teamwork skills with self-motivation to achieve success in a rapidly evolving environment.- Excellent communications skills - Able to effectively communicate highly technical information in nontechnical terminology (written and verbal).- Experience with Agile software development and test-driven development. Strong knowledge of software development languages specific to your domain: Java - JavaScript - .NET - HTML - Informatica- Strong knowledge of SQL or NoSQL databases such as Oracle- Experience in development or configuration of Oracle Human Capital Management (HCM) - ServiceNow HRSD or other HR systems. Understanding of HR processes such as payroll - recruiting & talent - time entry - benefits - core HR - and HR analytics.- Self-motivated to meet critical project milestones and deadlines.- Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and design specifications.
