Summary

Energy Innovation Analyst (Data Analyst) Senior | C2GS Measurement & Evaluation - Customer Technology Programs MER & Analytics Team acts as the primary data analyst supporting the Demand Side Management (DSM) team and programs.

What your day would be like:

You are responsible for:

  • Extracting large interval meter datasets, analyzing a variety of datasets and compiling medium to complex reporting while ensuring data integrity.
  • Lead on Customer to Grid (C2G) IT projects working in an agile environment to ensure successful implementation of critical projects needed to move C2G forward and maintain regulatory compliance with certain Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) orders.

Major Responsibilities Include:

  • Support Demand Side Management staff and Energy Efficiency Programs by acting as primary point of contact for all data and reporting needs
  • Provide consultative guidance to business area Project Managers in support of their individual program needs
  • Build and maintain PowerBI dashboards for various C2G programs/metrics/reports
  • Collaborate with IT and Business Operations Analyst (BOA) team on C2G IT projects
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders and vendors as needed
  • Other special projects/data requests as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors' degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Science, Information Technology or related field
  • AND five (5) years of prior relevant experience in the technology, power and/or natural gas sectors with an understanding of regulatory, technical and business issues impacting the industry.
  • In lieu of Bachelor's degree, High School/GED PLUS nine (9) years directly related experience in the technology, power and/or natural gas sectors with an understanding of regulatory, technical and business issues impacting the industry including renewables, distributed energy and grid technologies.
  • Experience collecting and analyzing data of medium to high complexity with multiple correlations and variables.

Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications:

  • Moderate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills a must
  • Ability to collaborate effectively amongst cross functional teams a must
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL and PowerQuery
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to research initiatives and stay current with industry trends & development
  • Ability to collect and analyze data of medium to high complexity with medium to high number of correlations or variables
  • Ability to gather large amounts of data and transfer to comprehensive regulatory reports
  • Strong critical thinking skills along with the ability to exercise sound judgement by making decisions based on accurate and timely analyses
  • Experience with AMI/meter/interval data preferred
  • Familiarity with DSM and energy efficiency programs a plus
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple competing demands

Major Accountabilities

1) Manage standard Energy Innovation related projects, both directly and through collaboration with other internal and external groups through effective research, data and trend analysis.

2) Research and understand relevant technology trends and emerging business models, including early stage developments.

3) Prepare regular business updates on industry trends, emerging technologies and technology-enabled business models, focusing on the potential opportunities and threats for the Company.

4) Develop analytical and technical capabilities and expertise in areas including: distributed generation, energy storage and smart grid technologies, regulatory and policy issues.

5) Work closely with other business unit teams to assess technology-driven business opportunities, and build business cases for handling of the most impactful technologies

6) Provide support and expertise in forecasting the business impacts of emerging technologies, and ensure these perspectives are factored into business case development.

7) Effectively interface and resolve project issues with departmental staff, other departments, regulatory agencies and other stakeholders to meet project requirements.

8) Maintain and foster business relationships with business units and vendors, participating in negotiations and evaluations to identify potential issues and risks.

9) Participate, as Company representative in various forums, committees and working groups dealing with various Energy Innovation technical, policy and regulatory issues.

10) Demonstrates a continuous learning mindset and knowledge of pilot and proof of concept goals and processes. Able to contribute to the construction of a POC plan and test platform.

Flex Role:
This position is not required to be performed at a specific APS facility as long as adequate technology and a solid ergonomic set up are present. Pending agreement with leadership, employees hired into this role will be able to choose where they prefer to perform their work. Employees will have two options to choose from:

  • APS office based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from an APS facility.
  • Home based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from his/her home.

  • Employees in Flex roles are required to reside in Arizona (or NM for Four Corners-based employees). Role types are subject to change based on business need.
