The Applications Engineer who will focus primarily on our pyrometer thermal sensing solutions for the semiconductor market. S/he will apply their extensive experience to help with the development and implementation of innovative solutions globally. This will include working directly with our key customers, global Sales, and Marketing teams; to defining new product requirements, providing clarification during product development, installation of new-solutions, and resolving high level technical inquiries.


* Establish a close working relationship with strategic customers to help define and develop new application solutions that brings measurable value to the customer.
* Work with customers to identify unique technical challenges and coordinate with the and Product Engineering and Marketing teams to create solutions to address these needs.
* Work collaboratively with the customer, the product teams and all company resources required to address quality issues and direct failure analysis - corrective action efforts.
* Accompany Sales team members on pre-sales visits as the technical product expert and to demonstrate product capabilities.
* Support Engineering teams on innovative designs, enhancements to existing products and provide knowledge of market applications.
* Train and support the account Sales team on products and applications germane to the specific customer's tool.
* Prepare system proposals, applications notes and white papers.
* Present information related to company products and applications.
* Provide expert level technical support to customers and internal staff.


* Located in Vancouver, Washington area.
* Standard office and laboratory environment.
* Up to 30% travel, domestic and international, required



* A minimum of 2 years of technical experience in a high technology company, preferably photonics-based thermal metrology in the semi-conductor industry.
* Demonstrated experience working with customers on challenging technical issues.
* Knowledge and understanding of basic thermodynamic and electromagnetic concepts
* Some prior experience with optical systems
* Practical hands-on experience with product development, experimental design, and testing.
* Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
* Detail oriented with solid organizational skills and ability to prioritize effectively in a flexing work environment.
* Ability to effectively listen to internal and external customer needs and offer appropriate solutions.
* Ability to work independently as needed as well in a multi-national, collaborative and highly innovative team environment.
* Self-motivated and enthusiastic about area of expertise, as well as providing high level customer service.
* Strong verbal, written communication, and presentation skills. Fluency in English


* Experience with pyrometers and fiber optic sensors or similar thermal measurements
* Experience with Semiconductor processes, and/or Semi equipment.
* Prior Sales/Applications/Marketing experience.
* Mechanical design, Material Science, Physics and/or Thermal Systems Modeling/Simulation.
* Programing skills


* Bachelor's degree in Physics, Engineering, or related field of science.
* Master's degree, or advanced course work preferred.
